Three finishes, explained
A finish is the texture cut into the top face of the board. It is worked into the material, not coated onto it, so it cannot peel or wear off.
Tecno
A regular machine-cut groove. Crisp, technical and contemporary. Chromatic collection only.
Nature
A flat face with a fine brushed grain. The smoothest of the three underfoot. Chromatic and Wood, and the only finish on the solid board.
Surco
Irregular grooves, brushed after cutting. The most tactile and the most character. Ethnic collection only.
Hollow or solid
Which should I specify?
Hollow is the default: lighter on a rooftop or a balcony, cheaper to freight, and available in every colour and finish. Solid is stiffer and much harder to dent, and is what a hospitality terrace taking trolleys should be built from.

What is under the boards
One system, one quote
Aluminium joists at 350 mm centres, a stainless clip at every board and joist crossing, 25 clips per square metre, and a colour-matched fascia closing the edge. Everything is quoted together with freight, so nothing turns up missing on site.

Why it costs more than Trex
Because it is a different material, made in Spain, and freighted to Canada to order. Trex is a wood-flour and recycled-polyethylene board manufactured at scale in North America and stocked in yards. Tarimatec is a PVC-mineral composite with no wood in it, extruded in Valencia, and brought in for the project.
That buys you a board that will not swell, cup or feed mould at a cut end, a stainless and aluminium fixing system rather than a plastic one, an EPD you can put in a LEED submission, and 31 colours in three surfaces instead of a short chart. It also costs more, takes 8 to 12 weeks, and has no Canadian code report yet. We would rather you knew all of that before you asked for a number.

Composite decking FAQ
Does it get hot underfoot?
Every deck surface warms in direct sun, and colour drives most of it. Tarimatec's dense mineral body moderates heat better than many wood-fibre boards of the same shade, and a solar reflectance index above 80 was measured by Tecnalia on a white sample (ASTM E1980, report 082062-002). A dark board is still a dark board: for barefoot areas in full sun, choose a light or mid tone.
Is it slippery when wet?
It is rated Class 3 to UNE-ENV 12633, with the grooved Tecno finish tested at R11. That is the class specified for pool surrounds and wet areas in European practice, which is why it appears on hotel pool decks. Texture varies between the three finishes; the classification does not.
How does it handle snow and ice?
Shovel with a plastic blade, never a metal one, and clear along the boards rather than across them. Rinse de-icing salt off in spring, and specify the AISI 316L clip if the deck is salted regularly. We do not publish a cold-temperature rating because the manufacturer has not tested one, and we will not invent a number.
Does it expand and contract?
Yes. Thermal expansion is 2.81 x 10 to the minus 5 per degree C (UNE 53126), which is why the hidden clip sets a fixed gap between boards and why the installation manual specifies end gaps. Leave the gaps the manual calls for and do not close the perimeter: most composite deck problems in cold climates are installation gaps that were skipped.
What fasteners does it use?
A concealed stainless clip, 25 per square metre, screwed to an aluminium joist with a DIN 7504P stainless A2 4.2 x 25 mm screw. Nothing is fixed through the face of the board, so there is no visible fastener and no hole to let water in.
How long does delivery take?
Samples ship from Vaughan, Ontario in 5 to 10 business days. Boards are import-to-order from Valencia: plan on 8 to 12 weeks from a confirmed order. We do not stock full boards in Canada, and we would rather tell you that at the quote stage than at the build stage.
Who handles a warranty claim?
The 25-year warranty is Tarimatec's manufacturer warranty, administered in Canada by Zinodeck. You raise the claim with us, we deal with Valencia. It covers the board, not the installation, and it excludes damage from weight overload. The full wording is in the warranty summary on the specifications page.
